Large companies with foreign trade experience have an opportunity to leverage their infrastructure, contacts and expertise to supply small importers through free trade zones, turning their know-how into a new business channel. The model proposes that companies in sectors such as household appliances, hardware, electrical products, machinery and other consumer goods continue purchasing from their international suppliers, but instead of immediately nationalizing all the merchandise and assuming the financial cost of holding it in inventory, they could move it to a free trade zone and keep it there without nationalizing it. From there, they could divide shipments into smaller sales and supply authorized small importers, who would subsequently carry out their own import procedures. For SMEs and entrepreneurs, this approach would provide access to foreign products without having to build relationships with Chinese factories from scratch or individually manage issues such as supplier sourcing and verification, negotiations, payments and international logistics. The free trade zone would therefore serve as an intermediate point between purchasing directly from China and buying already-nationalized goods in Argentina: products would likely cost more than through a direct import but could be more affordable than purchasing them on the local market, while also benefiting from the support of an experienced company that could provide brand-related and after-sales services. The model could also improve inventory management, as large companies could keep merchandise in the free trade zone until each sale is completed rather than financing the nationalization of the entire volume in advance. In this way, companies could turn their existing foreign trade capabilities into a service for third parties, while giving small importers access to a simpler international trade operation.
